Ekiti Court Remands 18-Year-Old for Alleged Rape of 2-Year-Old

A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has remanded a man, Solomon Sunday, 18, for the alleged rape of a two-year-old girl.

The prosecutor, Inspector Olasunkanmi Bankole, told the court that the offence was committed on August 24, 2025, within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District. He said the alleged offence contravenes Section 31 of the Ekiti State Child Rights Law, 2021.

Bankole sought the court to issue the remand of Sunday, stating that there was reasonable cause and that the defendant was reasonably suspected of committing the offence. He also indicated that the case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.

Chief Magistrate Adefunke Anoma granted the application, remanding the defendant at the Correctional Centre. The matter was adjourned to October 14, 2025, for mention.
