Manchester United will face Spanish club Real Sociedad in the last 16 of the Europa League, while Tottenham will play Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. Rangers are set to meet Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, in a thrilling encounter. Should Manchester United advance, they will face either Romanian league leaders FCSB or French club Lyon in the quarter-finals.
In other matchups, Spurs or AZ Alkmaar will meet either Eintracht Frankfurt or Ajax in the next round, while Rangers will face Roma or Athletic Bilbao if they overcome Fenerbahce. With Manchester United and Tottenham placed on opposite halves of the draw, there is a potential for them to meet in the final in Bilbao, with the winner earning a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Additionally, Chelsea will face FC Copenhagen in the last 16 of the Conference League.
The first legs of the Europa League last-16 ties are scheduled for Thursday, March 6, with the return legs taking place on March 13. Chelsea’s match against Copenhagen will also begin with an away leg in Denmark, before the return at Stamford Bridge the following week.
