Fashola Urges Youths to Shun Quick Wealth, Embrace Hard Work at UNILORIN Convocation

The immediate past Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), has urged Nigerian youths to shun the pursuit of sudden wealth and cultivate hard work and honesty in their quest for success.

Fashola gave the advice on Wednesday while delivering the 40th Convocation Lecture of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN)The Gen-Z Playbook: Navigating Work and the Real World.”

He warned that the pursuit of easy money tends to have calamitous consequences, including remorse, discontent, and irreparable harm. The former Lagos State governor urged the graduating students to be courageous enough to resist immoral shortcuts to success, and reminded them that the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government is to build better opportunities for Nigerians.

Fashola also asked the graduands to form real human relationships and not over-rely on technology, and use social media to unleash their talents and enhance the image of Nigeria in a positive way.

During his speech, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Abiodun Aluko, reminded the graduands to be of good behavior and integrity, as he also thanked the Federal Government and other stakeholders for the support given to the university.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), mandated the graduating students to be national transformation agents. He disclosed that the university graduated 316 first-class students out of a total number of 13,868 students for its 40th convocation ceremonies.
