A massive FBI manhunt is underway after the shocking assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, with federal agents now offering a six-figure reward for information leading to the shooter’s capture.
Kirk, 31, was gunned down on Wednesday during an event at the university campus, sending shockwaves through the political world and prompting an intensive investigation that has already generated thousands of tips.
The FBI has put up a $100,000 reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of whoever killed Kirk on September 10, 2025.
The bureau released surveillance images showing a person of interest who investigators say could easily blend into a college environment.
The suspect appears in photos wearing a hat, sunglasses, and what’s described as a long-sleeve black shirt – a calculated look that helped them move undetected across campus before carrying out the attack.
Investigators have tracked the shooter’s movements “onto the campus through the stairwells, up to the roof, across the roof to a shooting location,” according to reports from the scene.
A high-powered rifle has been recovered from the campus, giving investigators crucial evidence as they piece together exactly how this brazen daylight assassination was carried out.
Utah officials are taking no chances with the investigation.
Governor Spencer Cox emphasized the critical need for public assistance, saying “We cannot do our job without the public’s help right now.”
The response has been overwhelming – the FBI has already received more than 7,000 leads and tips from people across the country.
The incident has been described by officials as a political assassination, raising serious questions about the safety of public figures and the climate of political violence in America.
State officials are already moving to pursue the death penalty if the case goes to trial.
The FBI is working alongside state and local law enforcement “to fully investigate and seek justice in the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk” and is asking anyone with information, photos, or video from the incident to come forward.
