The Federal Ministry of Education has shut down widespread claims that schools across Nigeria have been ordered to close following recent student kidnappings.
In a statement released Saturday, November 22, the ministry called the viral social media reports completely false and misleading, stressing that no such directive exists.
Ministry spokesperson Folasade Boriowo made it clear: neither the Federal Government, the Federal Ministry of Education, state education authorities, nor any recognized security agency has issued instructions for schools to shut down.
The ministry urged Nigerians to ignore the rumors and only trust information from official government sources.
The false reports had sparked panic among parents and school administrators across the country, with many seeking clarification on whether to keep children home.
