Gordon Strachan Criticizes Manchester United Players for Prioritizing Social Media Over Winning

Manchester United legend, Gordon Strachan, has recently criticized the current players at the club, accusing them of being more focused on social media than achieving success on the pitch. Strachan, who won the FA Cup with United in 1985 and spent five seasons at Old Trafford, reaching second place in the First Division in 1987-88, expressed his disappointment in an interview with GentingCasino. He believes the players are more interested in showcasing their fashion and nightlife than winning trophies or medals.

“There’s no players spreading a winning mentality,” Strachan said. “They’ve been spreading Instagram. I know what they’re doing, I know what clothes they’re wearing, I know what clubs they’re at. I can see what boat they’re on. But I don’t see any Premier League or Champions League medals.”

He pointed out that, especially over the last six years, the winning culture at United has been eroded. While acknowledging the efforts of a few good players like Fernandes, Strachan emphasized that many players are simply content with being part of United, without striving for excellence.

Strachan also highlighted the need for leadership within the team, suggesting that many players in the dressing room are desperate for guidance. He urged Amorim and the recruitment team to find new players who embody the club’s historic win-at-all-costs mentality, exemplified by legends like Jaap Stam, Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I don’t think it’s all about winning at that club just now. It’s a culture that needs to change,” Strachan concluded.
