Gospel artists like Mercy Chinwo, Nathaniel Bassey, and Moses Bliss are now among the highest-streamed Nigerian musicians on YouTube Music in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025.
Their achievement was through hit songs such as Mercy Chinwo’s “Excess Love,” which has had 133 million plays, and Nathaniel Bassey’s “Yahweh Sabaoth,” “TOBECHUKWU,” and “Jesus Iye,” which have had 25 million, 39 million, and 32 million plays, respectively.
According to numbers aggregated by Debut Hub, Nathaniel Bassey had 52.8 million streams, Mercy Chinwo had 46.4 million, and Moses Bliss 41.5 million.
The worldwide charts, however, depicted Rema’s uninterrupted dominance. Other leading Nigerian musicians, including Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Ayra Starr, also dominated the list of the top 20878uh most-streamed artists.
Rema gained 223 million streams from his popular track “Calm Down,” featuring Selena Gomez, that reached a record-breaking 2.5 billion plays.
