Governor Yusuf Bans Student Labour, Pledges School Renovation in Kano

Kano state Government

Governor Yusuf of Kano State has ordered an immediate end to student labour in schools, emphasizing that educational institutions are for learning and moral development, not manual work. The directive followed an unscheduled visit to the School for Arabic Studies, where the governor found students digging a toilet pipeline. Despite the headmaster’s claim that the task occurred after school hours, Yusuf insisted such practices must cease.

To address infrastructure challenges, the governor pledged to renovate all dilapidated structures within the school, including its mosque. He further instructed that all school project proposals be submitted to the Ministry of Education or his office for proper oversight.

Meanwhile, during an inspection of reconstruction efforts at the Kano Printing Press, damaged during the 2024 #EndBadGovernance protests, Yusuf expressed concern over the quality of work and ordered the contractor to adhere strictly to approved standards.
