Hospital Cleaner Caught Selling Human Placentas in Mpumalanga Faces Court

Health

A shocking case has emerged from Mpumalanga where a hospital worker has been arrested for allegedly selling human tissue on the streets.

According to report, Rose Mnisi, 39, who worked as a cleaner in the maternity ward of a local hospital, was caught red-handed by police on Voortrekker Street in Lydenburg, South Africa last Thursday.

Officers acted on a tip-off about someone selling placentas in the area.

When police stopped Mnisi, they discovered human tissue inside a plastic bag she was carrying.

The woman admitted she worked as a cleaner in the hospital’s maternity section, where she would have had access to medical waste.

Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the provincial police spokesperson, confirmed the disturbing details of the case.

The arrest highlights serious security concerns about how medical facilities handle sensitive biological material.

Mnisi now faces charges for illegal possession of human tissue and appeared before the Mashishing District Court. Her case has been postponed until September 25, when she will apply for bail.
