Housewife Allegedly Murders Husband Over Plan to Reconcile with Ex-wife

A disturbing domestic tragedy has unfolded in Tashan Tabo district of Bauchi State, where 36-year-old Lukman Husaini was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife, Ummi Lukman, in the early hours of Friday. Family members report that the fatal incident occurred after Husaini expressed his intention to reconcile with his former wife—a woman Ummi had allegedly influenced him to divorce during their one-year marriage.

“She confessed to stabbing him in the chest,” said Abdullahi Jibrin, the deceased’s brother, in an interview with local publication Wikki Times.

“We found him in a pool of blood at the gate, where he had collapsed while trying to seek help.

The knife was disposed of in a toilet pit, and there was blood everywhere—from the bedroom to the compound.”

According to family accounts, warning signs were present long before the fatal attack. Just weeks earlier, Ummi had allegedly poured hot water on Husaini, causing severe burns. This pattern of aggression had prompted family members to advise him to end the marriage.

“I had been insisting for the past seven days that he should leave her,” said Amadu Jibrin, who served as Husaini’s marital guardian. “He actually divorced her, but she apologized, and he took her back.”

Zaliha Idris, the deceased’s sister, described her brother as a kind and gentle man.

“While our mother insists that she (Ummi) must be killed as well, we leave everything in the hands of God,” she said, struggling to control her emotions.

The family is now calling for justice while mourning the loss of Husaini, who leaves behind three children and an unborn child with the suspect.

“We have put everything in the hands of God, but we are watching the security agencies to ensure that justice is served,” Abdullahi added, as the community demands a thorough investigation to serve as a deterrent against domestic violence.
