The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, has ordered a swift crackdown on those responsible for the deadly attack on Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State. The explosion, which occurred on January 9, 2025, at around 12:10 a.m., claimed the lives of two police officers, Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the IGP condemned the attack and assured that no cop-killer would evade justice. The IGP expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased officers, pledging that their sacrifices would not be forgotten and that their benefits would be promptly provided to their families.
To ensure justice, the IGP has directed Zone 15 Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to mobilize resources and collaborate with other security agencies to track down the attackers. The IGP reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to holding those who threaten the nation’s security accountable.
