Actress Iyabo Ojo and her daughter, Priscilla, recently made a royal visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, as part of the lead-up to Priscilla’s traditional wedding to Tanzanian singer Juma Jux.
It was at a heart-wrenching moment on the Instagram page of Iyabo Ojo that Priscilla had knelt before the honorable monarch to offer her wedding invitation—a tradition richly rooted within Yoruba culture and showing respect.
It was warmly welcomed by the royal family during their visit.
Tradition is to open up the union to royal blessing by inviting the Ooni for most Nigerian societies, and in this case especially, among Yorubas.
Priscilla’s people and she herself are observing tradition by bringing into their union the royal blessings through approaching the Ooni.
“By the grace of God, if the great Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Royal Father of the day, blesses your marriage with his royal blessing, then your marriage is blessed! Long live our King.”
