Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has publicly apologised to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and ValueJet Airlines following the airport incident of Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
In a statement personally signed by him, K1 expressed regret over the controversy but firmly maintained that his gold flask contained only water, not alcohol as alleged.
“Unknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor strongly advised that I remain constantly hydrated.
This is why I always carry a water flask with me,” he explained. “On that day, the flask was empty when I passed two security checks.
I only filled it with water at the lounge before heading to the tarmac — this can be confirmed by CCTV footage. I hadn’t even boarded the plane, let alone being deboarded.”
The singer stressed that it was never his intention to cause disruption or violate aviation protocols, adding that his decades-long career has been dedicated to promoting Nigeria’s image worldwide.
“I would never knowingly tarnish the image I’ve built over the past five decades, nor act in a way that could diminish the reputation of my country,” he said.
K1 extended an “unreserved and heartfelt” apology to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, FAAN, the NCAA, ValueJet, Nigerians, and his fans across the globe, pledging his continued commitment to being a positive ambassador of Nigerian music and culture.
