The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, yesterday presented the 2026 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly with a record spending plan of N1.368 trillion, the first time in the history of the state that any budget would cross the N1 trillion mark.
Out of this total appropriation, N934.64 billion represents capital expenditure, while N433.49 billion is for recurrent spending.
Governor Yusuf explained that education would have the lion’s share at N405.35 billion, followed by health at N212.25 billion, and infrastructure development at N346.29 billion. He also stated that his administration had already delivered on 80 percent of the promises made during the election campaign, reflecting what he described as a strong commitment to improving governance and service delivery in Kano State.
