Kwara Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has re-emphasized his government’s determination to secure lives and property in the state, stating that no area of Kwara will be secure for criminal operators, including kidnappers.
Addressing a security council meeting in Ilorin, the governor explained that he had immediately updated President Bola Tinubu on the attack in Oke Ode and again requested increased deployment of federal security to rout out criminals.
“Since then, Army Headquarters has redeployed the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2nd Division to Ilorin as part of measures to strengthen security operations in the state,” he said.
He disclosed that on Monday evening, joint operations of Police, DSS, and Army launched an offensive around Baba Sango, Kwara-Kogi border, neutralizing about 15 armed bandits. The operation, he continued, went on until Tuesday, with further coordination being set up at the State Security Council meeting on Wednesday evening.
Governor AbdulRazaq promised citizens that his administration would continue to support security agencies so as to make all communities secure.
“I have the commitment of our security agencies to smoke them out and dislodge such criminals from their enclaves. We will fight insecurity with everything at our disposal,” he said.
“Kwara shall not be a den of criminals. To any criminal intent on destabilizing peace in Kwara, you may run, but you cannot hide from justice. Kwara is the people’s own, and their peace shall be defended.”
