Abuja lawyer and former counsel to singer Speed Darlington, Stan Alieke, has warned single men to ensure they have a steady source of income before marriage.
In a post shared via his Instastories, Alieke warned that financial pressure is among the key causes of divorce.
He penned:
“This might sound harsh, but being a man, if you’re not rich, don’t even consider getting married.”. Don’t allow society to bulldoze you into it marrying late is better than marrying as a poor man; you will witness shege. Among the top divorce reasons due to cheating is a poor husband. In fact, most women prefer an adulterous husband to a poor husband. Being poor does not mean owning all the riches, but at least possessing a steady means of riches.
His statement has generated debates on the internet over the necessity of financial preparedness before getting married.
