Manchester City Set to Sign Donnarumma as Ederson Prepares for Turkey Move

Manchester City are close to completing the signing of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, with the Italian goalkeeper scheduled for a medical on Monday, September 1, as part of a potential transfer deadline day deal.

The transfer, valued at approximately €30 million plus additional fees, coincides with City’s preparation for Ederson’s departure to Turkish club Fenerbahce.

The 26-year-old Donnarumma is expected to sign a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium and become Pep Guardiola’s primary goalkeeper.

Ederson, who has played a key role in City’s recent domestic and European achievements, was benched during Sunday’s 2-1 loss to Brighton, where academy goalkeeper James Trafford started the match.

Donnarumma became available after his relationship with PSG deteriorated when contract extension discussions failed.

His departure from the French club, combined with tensions involving manager Luis Enrique, opened the door for City to pursue the transfer.

The Italian international will undergo his medical examination in Italy before traveling to Manchester to join Guardiola’s team after the September international break.

City are also planning changes to their goalkeeping lineup, with backup keeper Stefan Ortega Moreno likely to leave the club as well.
