Morocco Set to Host 2025 CAF Awards as Osimhen, Salah, and Ajibade Lead Africa’s Top Nominees

Morocco will host the 2025 CAF Awards on November 19, 2025, as Africa’s football stars gather to celebrate the continent’s finest players, coaches, and teams of the year. The prestigious event, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. local time (same as Nigerian time), will honour outstanding performances that defined African football over the past year.

According to a statement released on the CAF website on Friday, Nigerian and Egyptian stars headline the nominations, with Victor Osimhen and Mohamed Salah set to battle for the coveted Men’s Player of the Year award. Nigeria also boasts several other strong contenders, including Stanley Nwabali (Goalkeeper of the Year) and Daniel Bameyi (Young Player of the Year), while Super Falcons’ standouts Rasheedat Ajibade, Esther Okoronkwo, and Chiamaka Nnadozie are in the running for top women’s honours.

Men’s Player of the Year Nominees:

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa (Cameroon/Napoli), Fiston Mayele (DR Congo/Pyramids), Mohamed Salah (Egypt/Liverpool), Denis Bouanga (Gabon/LAFC), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea/Borussia Dortmund), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco/PSG), Oussama Lamlioui (Morocco/RS Berkane), Victor Osimhen (Nigeria/Galatasaray), Iliman Ndiaye (Senegal/Everton), Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal/Tottenham Hotspur).

Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year Nominees:

Andre Onana (Cameroon/Trabzonspor), Vozinha (Cape Verde/Chaves), Ahmed El Shenawy (Egypt/Pyramids), Munir Mohamedi (Morocco/RS Berkane), Yassine Bounou (Morocco/Al Hilal), Stanley Nwabali (Nigeria/Chippa United), Edouard Mendy (Senegal/Al Ahli), Marc Diouf (Senegal/Tengueth), Ronwen Williams (South Africa/Mamelodi Sundowns), Aymen Dahmen (Tunisia/CS Sfaxien).

Men’s Young Player of the Year Nominees:

Chiamaka Nnadozie (Nigeria), Chloe Ngazi, Sedilame Boseja, Fideline Ngoy, Habiba Emad, Cynthia Konlan, Fatoumata Karentao, Khadija Er-Rmichi, Adji Ndiaye, Andile Dlamini.

Women’s Coach of the Year Nominees:

Justine Madugu (Nigeria), Bankole Olowookere (Nigeria), Desiree Ellis (South Africa), Jorge Vilda (Morocco), Lamia Boumehdi (Morocco), among others.

Women’s Club of the Year Nominees:

Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Bayelsa Queens (Nigeria), ASFAR (Morocco), TP Mazembe (DR Congo), USFAS Bamako (Mali), ASEC Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire), Gaborone United (Botswana), DE Agosto (Angola), Aigles de la Medina (Senegal), JKT Queens (Tanzania).

Women’s National Team of the Year Nominees:

Nigeria Super Falcons, South Africa, Morocco, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania, Zambia U17, Cameroon U17, Nigeria U17, Côte d’Ivoire U17.

CAF stated that the 2025 edition would celebrate not just individual brilliance but also the growing global influence of African football. The awards promise a glamorous night, as Morocco hosts the continent’s best for a celebration of excellence, resilience, and unity in African sport.
