43-year-old mother from Akure, Ondo State, was taken into custody by the Amotekun Security Network in Efon-Alaaye after reportedly striking her 9-year-old son on the head with a pestle during a heated family confrontation.
According to Adewale Adeleye, Head of Communications for the Amotekun Security Network, the incident occurred at the family’s residence following an undisclosed dispute.
The mother allegedly admitted to using the pestle as a form of punishment for her son’s repeated misbehavior. Local security operatives immediately intervened after learning of the violent incident. The suspect was promptly handed over to the Efon-Ekiti Police Division for a comprehensive investigation.
Meanwhile, the young victim is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital in the town.
