Strong indications have emerged that the rift between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Kogi Central, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio has been resolved with her extending an invitation to Akpabio and other Senators to attend a series of project commissioning events in Kogi State next week.
A letter of invitation, which was personally signed by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and addressed to all Senators, was read at Thursday’s plenary by the Senate President.
In the letter, she invited her colleagues to Ihima, Kogi State, on Sunday for the commissioning of constituency projects marking her second anniversary as a serving lawmaker. The letter read in part: “In marking my second-year anniversary as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite my Distinguished colleagues to join me for the commissioning of projects in Kogi State.”
She said the meeting point would be her house at Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, while Senators going by air could land at the Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to the venue by road.
An apparently pleased Akpabio congratulated her in advance after reading the letter: “Congratulations in advance.”
The development represents a positive turn in their relationship after months of tension. A senatorial seat reallocation dispute earlier this year saw Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan suspended for six months from the chamber on March 6, 2025.
Since her reinstatement on September 24, she has resumed active participation in plenary and maintained cordial interactions with the Senate leadership. Her recent gesture of inviting Akpabio and colleagues to her constituency event is widely regarded as a clear signal that their strained relationship has now been fully mended.
