The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Strategic Command has apprehended a 27-year-old male suspect, Umar Adamu Umar, for alleged trafficking in cannabis valued at over ₦10 million.
The suspect, a native of Fagge Local Government Area of Kano State, was arrested on August 6, 2025, along the Zaria–Kano Road, according to a statement released on Saturday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari.
He was reported to have 9 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, popularly known as Colorado, tightly packaged in 19 packets. Investigations revealed that the consignment originated from Lagos and was bound for Kano.
Maigatari explained that the seizure caused a tremendous blow in terms of finance to the criminal syndicate operating the business, shutting off its supply line, source of income, and ability to finance future criminal activities.
Kano NDLEA Commander, ACGN A.I. Ahmad, pledged that the Command would persist with intelligence-led operations and patrol to stop the influx of illegal drugs into the state.
