Nigeria Police Set October 2 Deadline for Tinted Glass Permits – Here’s What Car Owners Need to Know

Nigerian police have just announced they’ll begin serious enforcement of tinted glass permits starting October 2, 2025 – and they mean business.

The Jigawa State Police Command dropped this news over the weekend, with their spokesperson SP Shi’isu Adam laying out the details during a briefing in Dutse on Saturday, September 20.

The police are already accepting applications online, so they’re clearly serious about this deadline.

The process is actually pretty straightforward, according to Adam. You’ll need to head over to possap.gov.ng and set up an account using your NIN, BVN, or TIN.

After verifying your email, you can select the “Tinted Glass Permit” service and upload all your vehicle details along with the required documents.

“Applicants must carefully confirm all details before submitting their requests and making payments as directed on the portal,” Adam explained.

But that’s not all. Once you’ve submitted everything online, you’ll need to show up for a vehicle inspection and get your fingerprints taken at designated Police Intelligence Departments.

If you’re in Jigawa, you’re in luck – they’re doing the biometric capturing for free at the State Intelligence Department at Police Headquarters in Dutse.

Adam made it clear that car owners shouldn’t fall for middlemen or unauthorized agents trying to cash in on this process.

The police want people to go through the official channels – no shortcuts, no “special arrangements.”

“This initiative promotes transparency and ensures road safety for all,” he said.

The police aren’t just asking nicely here. Adam warned that anyone caught without proper permits after October 2 could face legal consequences.

While he didn’t spell out exactly what those consequences would be, it’s probably not worth finding out the hard way.
