Folorunsho Alakija, the 73-year-old founder and Executive Vice Chairman of Famfa Oil, has reportedly gone blind according to sources close to her medical team. The Nigerian business mogul’s vision problems allegedly began after a terrifying near-miss incident aboard an aircraft where she was traveling with her husband, Modupe Alakija, Chairman of Famfa Oil.
Sources told SaharaReporters that the frightening experience caused her blood pressure to spike dramatically, triggering complications that affected her eyesight.
“She had a near air mishap with her husband on board and her blood pressure reportedly shot up affecting her eyes,” one source revealed.
“She has been having eyesight issues but instead of treating the illness, she chose to start a church to help her. Now she can’t see.”
Following the traumatic incident, Alakija reportedly purchased a new private jet to avoid flying with her husband. She is said to own a Bombardier Global Express XRS registered to Wings of Grace Limited since 2011 with tail number VP-CEO, as well as a luxurious Bombardier Global Express 6000 known for its impressive 6,000 nautical mile range and Mach 0.89 cruising speed.
In an apparent search for spiritual healing, Alakija also deepened her religious commitment. What began as a small fellowship in her home around 2004 eventually grew into the Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International. She received ordination as an Apostle on her 69th birthday, marking a significant spiritual milestone in her life.
