accident

At least nine people have been confirmed dead, while three others sustained injuries in a tragic accident that occurred early Monday morning along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The crash, which took place around 5:30 a.m. at Ayetoro village in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, involved a Toyota Hiace commercial bus (registration number UYY 165 ZY) and a stationary articulated truck (marked DKA 244 XC).

According to the Public Education Officer of the Ogun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, the accident was caused by excessive speed and driver fatigue. She explained that the bus driver, moving at high speed, lost control and crashed into the stationary truck.

Rescue officials evacuated the injured victims to a private hospital in Mowe for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at a morgue in Sagamu. The FRSC has urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and avoid driving while fatigued to prevent further tragedies.
