Actress Nkechi Blessing has spoken out against online trolls who frequently target her personal life.
In a video posted on Instagram, she questioned why being in the public eye gives people the right to insult her.
“Is it okay for someone to come at you unprovoked? Marriage shame you. Child shame you. Just like that.
Because you are a so-called celebrity. I’ve always said this—I’m not a celebrity. I have blood running through my veins. I am human just like you,” she said.
The actress reminded her followers that her 2.6 million Instagram fans don’t make her superior to anyone, stressing that social media fame is temporary.
“The fact that I have 2.6 million followers does not make me a demigod. Mark can decide to take the page at any time. Will my life stop? Mbakwa now,” she added.
Nkechi also explained why she often replies directly to critics instead of ignoring them.
“My darling, it is aura for aura. The only thing that keeps me sane is when I give you back what you dished to me. Nobody sees what they say to you. They only see your reaction,” she noted.
She shared an example of a troll who mocked her for “jumping from one man to another” and told her to get married and have children. Nkechi said she clapped back immediately.
“You give me, I give you. Then everybody go dey okay. You run kitikiti, katakata, crying because of just one line.
But you wrote plenty. Like I said, I’m not a celebrity. You bring rubbish to me, I give you rubbish back,” she said.
