The potential return of Peter Obi, a 2027 presidential aspirant, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been a topic of discussion. It was asserted by Jacob Mark, the former National Legal Adviser for the PDP, that Obi should be the one seeking to rejoin the party, rather than the party seeking his return.
Mark highlighted the PDP’s extensive organizational structure, which includes 37 state chairmen as well as executives in every local government and ward across the country. In contrast, he noted that other parties often lack this level of organization and may only have a national chairman. According to Mark, the PDP is a powerful political structure with which any serious politician should desire to be associated.
These comments follow repeated support from Professor Jerry Gana, a founding member of the PDP, for Obi’s return. Gana has expressed hopes that Obi could be chosen as the PDP’s presidential candidate in the upcoming election.
