The Ogun State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the baffling death of 21-year-old pregnant woman Tosin Lawal, who perished in Ilaro. Lawal, a nine-months pregnant woman, died on Monday, March 10, 2025, as a result of unexpected palpitations of the heart.
The woman had no history of ailment before she died, police said according to Omolola Odutola, state police spokesperson. A police report from the Ilaro Division stated that her husband, Akeem, brought her to Ore-Ofe Specialist Hospital that morning when she reported her heart beating very fast.
But when they arrived around 3:30 p.m., the attending doctor declared her dead on arrival.
“Lawal told the husband that her heart was pounding. The doctor declared her dead on arrival when she was brought to the hospital,” Odutola wrote.
The authorities have directed Akeem to take his wife’s body to the State Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Coroner forms have also been submitted as part of the ongoing investigation.
