Nigerian media personality Ossai Ovie Success has issued a stern legal warning to Afrobeats legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, over his recent engagement to Honorable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, the Deputy Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly. The music star has been making headlines since his shocking split from actress Annie Idibia.
Shortly after, he publicly declared his love for Natasha and proposed to her, a move that has sparked intense debate online. While some fans celebrate the new relationship, others are questioning whether it’s a genuine romance or a situation headed for legal trouble.
Reacting to the news, Ossai Ovie Success took to Facebook to call out 2Baba, expressing disappointment over the timing of the engagement. He warned that unless the singer legally finalizes his divorce from Annie, his marriage to Natasha would be considered invalid under Nigerian law.
“I’m disappointed in 2Baba, considering the timing of his proposal to Natasha. After watching the proposal video, I wondered, ‘Does he know what he’s doing?’”
Ovie Success emphasized that under the Nigerian Matrimonial Causes Act and Marriage Act, entering a new marriage while still legally bound to a spouse constitutes bigamy—a criminal offense punishable by up to five years in prison.
“2Baba cannot legally marry Natasha until his divorce is finalized. If he proceeds, his first spouse can file a complaint, leading to prosecution for bigamy.”
