A pastor in Akure has been sent to prison custody after admitting to sexually abusing his teenage daughter over a four-year period.
According to report, the 42-year-old man, Samson Ajayi, appeared before a magistrate court where he confessed to repeatedly assaulting his 17-year-old biological daughter.
The abuse occurred between March 2021 and August 2025 at their family home in the Igoba area of Akure, according to police prosecutor Martins Olowofeso.
The charges were brought under the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law of 2021.
During the court proceedings, Ajayi made a troubling confession. He claimed that his actions were the result of what he called a “generational curse,” alleging that his own father had similarly abused his sister.
“I didn’t know what came over me,” he told the court. “I think it’s a generational curse because my father also did it to my sister.”
The prosecutor presented an 11-paragraph affidavit supporting the case and requested that Ajayi remain in a correctional facility while they await guidance from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Ajayi’s defense lawyer, Kehinde Osadugba, attempted to negotiate an out-of-court settlement.
The lawyer argued that the victim’s mother had forgiven the accused because he serves as the family’s primary income earner.
However, Magistrate Taiwo Lebi firmly rejected this request. The magistrate ruled that Ajayi’s own confession provided sufficient grounds for his continued detention.
The case file will now be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further legal review.
The matter has been scheduled to return to court on November 20, 2025.
