Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) vowed to lead the resistance against any attempt to rig the 2027 general election, warning that Nigerians could no longer accept “glitches” explanations from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking to a media briefing in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Hon. Debo Ologunagba said the party’s national convention to take place in November in Ibadan, Oyo State, would re-charge and re-position the PDP to become a force for doing business again to oust the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He disclosed that micro-zoning of national party offices was on-going throughout the zones aimed at creating in-party cohesion towards the election.
On election transparency, Ologunagba demanded compulsory electronic collation of votes from polling stations, with INEC’s technological excuses no longer being acceptable.
“We want votes to count and express the people’s will. That idea of glitches by this INEC will not work. That POS machines can work in the most remote corner of Nigeria, BIVAS can work also. Any breakdown will be taken as deliberate manipulation,” he said.
He warned that the PDP, on behalf of Nigerians, would “resist any attempt to abridge the people’s right to freely choose their leaders.”
Reacting to INEC’s warning of warning for early campaigning, Ologunagba described the APC and President Bola Tinubu as being in “panic mode” over PDP’s rebuilding process.
“If the President and APC were performing, their performance would be their endorsement. Instead, they are touring for endorsement shopping. This is what describes panic,” he said.
