Phone Thieves Kill Young Man Over Mobile Phone in Katsina

Tragedy struck in Funtua, Katsina State on Tuesday morning when a young man was brutally stabbed to death by suspected phone snatchers while heading to pray at a local mosque.

Ibrahim Mohammed, known affectionately in his community as Elana, lost his life after refusing to hand over his mobile phone to armed thieves along Danja Road in the Kasuwan Mata area of Funtua.

According to local residents who witnessed the incident, Mohammed encountered the hoodlums on his way to morning prayers.

“They pulled out a knife and demanded his phone, but he stood his ground,” a community member told our correspondent.

“A struggle broke out, and before anyone could intervene, they had stabbed him.”

The senseless killing has left the tight-knit community of Kasuwan Mata in shock and mourning.

Mohammed was laid to rest the same morning at 10 AM in accordance with Islamic traditions, as grieving friends and neighbors poured into his family home to offer condolences.
