The Osun State Police have arrested eight people in connection with a horrific attack on a 16-year-old boy that shocked the community of Ikire in July.

According to police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the incident happened on July 26 when three suspects from Apomu came to farm in the Arademi area of Ikire around 4 p.m.

After working on the farm, two of the suspects lured the teenager into a secluded area where they brutally attacked him, cutting open his abdomen in what appears to be an attempt to harvest his organs.

The attackers also severed his scrotum before fleeing when the boy managed to cry for help.

Police responded immediately to the scene and rushed the victim to a local hospital before transferring him to University College Hospital for specialized treatment.

The investigation led to the arrest of eight suspects connected to the attack.

In his Monday statement from Osogbo, Ojelabi also revealed other arrests made during July, including two suspected cultists operating at Osun State Polytechnic in Iree.

Also among the list is a robbery suspect who allegedly stole an iPhone 11 in Oke Baale, Osogbo, a man caught with an illegal firearm in Sedona, Ede, and another suspect arrested for stealing a motorcycle from a mosque.

All suspects will face charges in court once investigations are completed.
