Former Big Brother Naija contestant Natacha Akide, known as Tacha, has demanded substantial compensation after a Dangote truck severely injured Ruth, the sister of BBNaija winner Phyna.
The accident occurred just six days after Ruth celebrated her graduation. According to reports, an underage driver was operating the Dangote truck when the crash happened, resulting in Ruth losing her leg.
The Dangote Group responded to public criticism by sending a company representative to visit Ruth.
They expressed sympathy and offered compensation, though the amount wasn’t disclosed.
Tacha believes this response is insufficient. She’s calling for $10 million in compensation, arguing that Dangote should face serious financial consequences for their drivers’ negligence.
“It’s high time the Dangote Group starts paying heavily for the recklessness of their drivers,” she stated.
“They ought to pay $10 million in compensation to Ruth, even though it won’t bring back her leg.”
She pointed out that such accidents happen less frequently in developed countries where companies face stricter penalties for safety violations.
The incident has triggered widespread anger among Nigerians on social media. Many are sharing similar experiences and demanding stronger safety regulations for commercial vehicles.
Some users mentioned that Dangote trucks have been involved in other fatal accidents, including one in Gombe State last month that killed an entire family.
