The brother of Regina Daniels, Samuel Ojeogwu, widely known as Sammy West, has been released after being arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, and theft. His arrest reportedly came over a petition filed by the actress’s estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
Confirming the development, Regina Daniels took to her Instagram page on Tuesday to celebrate the release of her brother. In the video she posted, she expressed relief and gratitude: “And my brother is out. So, one battle down.”
In an emotive message, the actress reflected on the outpouring of support which she received during her brother’s detention. “Do you know it’s such a big deal to be loved by so many people? The kind of love I received during this period makes me emotional. Jokes on you, Ned because you thought people would hate me,” she said.
She continued to thank her fans and supporters: “I have my mothers, fathers, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends, fans, my online aunties and online daddies everybody fighting for me. Thank you, guys.”
Previous reports had indicated that FCT Police Command arraigned Ojeogwu before a court in Abuja based on a petition dated October 28, 2025. He was arraigned on November 6 and granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million by an Abuja Magistrate Court, secured by his legal team led by human rights lawyer Marshal Abubakar. The case was adjourned to November 28 for further hearing.
A separate video by activist Omoyele Sowore showed friends and celebrities, including actress Mercy Johnson, celebrating the release of Sammy West.
The development comes amid reports of growing tension in Regina Daniels’ marriage to Senator Nwoko, who has denied allegations of domestic abuse, claiming that the actress’s behavior was influenced by alleged drug and alcohol use.
