Rivers State Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, has refuted claims circulating on social media that she has resigned from her position. Odu’s recent absence from public events had fueled speculation about her resignation. However, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, the Head of Press at the Deputy Governor’s Office, Owupele Benibo, dismissed the reports as “false and misleading.”
The statement clarified: “The Office of the Deputy Governor of Rivers State categorically debunks the false reports suggesting that Her Excellency, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, DSSRS, has resigned. Contrary to these baseless claims, she remains committed to her duties and continues to serve alongside His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State.”
It further emphasized that Prof. Odu is dedicated to supporting the governor in delivering democratic dividends to the people of Rivers State. The statement urged the public to disregard the “malicious speculation,” affirming that the deputy governor has not resigned and has no intention of doing so.
