Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan Demands Public Broadcast of Senate Probe

In a bold move that has caught national attention, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) is demanding full transparency in her upcoming Senate probe by insisting the proceedings be broadcast live to the Nigerian public.

The senator, who was referred to the Senate’s Ethics and Disciplinary Committee following a heated dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements, declared she is fully prepared to face the panel but will not accept any behind-closed-doors hearings.

Breaking her previous silence on Thursday through a pointed social media statement, Akpoti-Uduaghan revealed she had received a petition from the Northern Youths Advocacy for Excellence (NOYAD) calling for her investigation on allegations of “corruption, breach of trust and victimisation of local content committee staff.”

“This petition came to my notice a few hours ago,” she wrote.

“In as much as I have refrained from publicly speaking on the matter and a lot of occurrences at the Senate under Senate President Akpabio, it’s about time I break my silence.”

Taking her stance further, the embattled lawmaker directly challenged media outlets to host her for an unfiltered discussion.

“Arise News, set a date and I shall be in your studio in person. Spare no questions,” she declared.

Akpoti-Uduaghan urged citizens to closely monitor the upcoming proceedings, which she insisted “shall be covered live,” adding that “the next few days and weeks shall be interesting but will shape the standard and quality of Nigeria’s leadership.”
