Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan brings Sexual Harassment Case against Akpabio to UN Session

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Kogi Central, has brought her sexual harassment case against Senate President Godswill Akpabio to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

LindaIkeji Blog reports, in a formal presentation during the IPU session on Tuesday, March 11, Akpoti-Uduaghan urged justice and action from global democratic institutions.

The senator had also charged Akpabio with sexual assault, an allegation that followed a fight in a dispute over sitting space in the Senate chamber. She was suspended from the Senate for six months on March 6 following the fight.

At the IPU session, Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned her suspension as “unlawful” and urged international institutions to intervene in what she described as an assault on democratic values.
