Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Condemns Suspension, Vows to Keep Serving Constituents

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has denounced her suspension from the Senate as unjust, vowing to continue serving her constituents despite the decision. The Senate suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for “gross misconduct” following a heated exchange with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements on February 20.

The situation escalated when she later accused Akpabio of sexual harassment—an allegation he has denied. Her petition on the matter was dismissed by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions on procedural grounds. Taking to social media, Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned the suspension, describing it as an attack on justice and fairness.

“Against the culture of silence, intimidation, and victim-shaming, my unjust suspension from the Nigerian Senate invalidates the principles of natural justice, fairness, and equity,” she stated.

She reaffirmed her legitimacy as an elected representative, insisting that the suspension does not strip her of her mandate.

“The illegal suspension does not withdraw my legitimacy as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I will continue to use my duly elected position to serve my constituents and country to the best of my ability till 2027… and beyond,” she declared.
