Nigerian artist Shoday has come to the defense of controversial street-hop star Portable, arguing that the singer’s career has more staying power than critics initially believed.
Speaking in a recent interview, Shoday pointed out that Portable’s success extends far beyond his music alone.
He credited the artist’s bold personality and unfiltered social media presence as key factors in maintaining his relevance in the entertainment industry.
Shoday reflected on how many people wrote off Portable when he first emerged on the scene, expecting his fame to be short-lived. However, he believes Portable has consistently proven those predictions wrong.
“Artists like Portable, before he will go down and not trend again, it will be long,” Shoday explained. “Music is far beyond song.
You can’t just be putting out music; people need to know who you are. People need to know your personality and this person doesn’t care.”
He also noted Portable’s casual approach to social media, saying the artist “posts on Instagram like WhatsApp,” which has helped him maintain a direct connection with his audience.
“When he came out, people thought he was only going to trend for a year and that’s that, but till today he’s still buzzing,” Shoday added.
