Three popular native doctors in Anambra State were arraigned before the State High Court on charges of assisting criminal offenses and engaging in money rituals, as reported by LindaIkeji Blog.
The accused—Onyebuchi Okocha, also known as Onyeze Jesus, Chidozie Nwangwu, otherwise known as Akwa Okuko, and Ekene Igboekweze, also known as Eke Hit—was in court with Justice Jude Obiorah Thursday morning amidst the interested public and journalists.
Each of the suspects was individually docked as their charges were read. The charges centered on the suspected money ritual preparation and the use of protective charms by known offenders.
Following the arraignment, Justice Obiorah adjourned the case to April 11, 2025.
Speaking to journalists after the sitting, one of the defence attorneys, Remigus Okoli, accused the state government of fabricating a plot to unjustly remand his clients.
He accused the defendants of not being sufficiently accorded time to defend themselves.
Efforts at obtaining statements from the state government legal team led by F.C. Okeke were fruitless as they declined to comment to the press.
