Tinubu Commissions Landmark Projects at UNILORIN’s 40th Convocation

President Bola Tinubu commissioned some of the newly renovated projects at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) to commemorate activities for the institution’s 40th convocation ceremonies.

The projects include the Faculty of Social Sciences Building, a four-block lecture block for Faculties of Social Sciences and Management Sciences, the Department of English Drama Studio in the Faculty of Arts, the renovated Blocks 1–10, the renovated Department of Geography and Environmental Management Building, the renovated UNILORIN Innovation Hub, and the Technical Entrepreneurship Centre road.

Organized by the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Adenike Oladiji, President Tinubu announced that the projects show his government’s commitment to transforming education and infrastructure in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“These projects symbolize the vision of progress and innovation that we envision for our nation. I invite Nigerians to believe in the Renewed Hope Agenda and lend support to efforts to transform the country from grass to grace,” Tinubu stated.

He commended UNILORIN’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), and his team for their dedication to imbuing the vision of the institution with national development.

Also in attendance at the ceremony, the University Chancellor and Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumin Kabir Usman, represented by his proxy, Waziri of Katsina Senator Ibrahim Idah, praised UNILORIN’s quest for academic excellence and commitment to a friendly learning environment.

He called the projects commissioned “worthwhile initiatives” that would boost teaching, learning, and research and equip students with practical skills beyond the classroom.

In his address, Prof. Egbewole appreciated President Tinubu for his ongoing support and re-echoed the determination of the university towards continued growth and innovation.

“We remain committed to continuous improvement and will ensure the university grows stronger and better each day,” he stated.
