Tottenham Hotspur are on the brink of completing the transfer of RB Leipzig winger Xavi Simons for €60m (£51.8m).
The 22-year-old Netherlands international is in England and has completed his medical, reports say, before signing with Thomas Frank’s side. Both sides have agreed the transfer in principle and should be completing the details over the next 24 hours.
Chelsea had already been in talks with Leipzig for Simons but turned their focus to Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho, with a £40m transfer on the verge of completion.
Simons will then become the newest high-profile summer signing for Spurs, after Joao Palhinha and Mohammed Kudus. The north Londoners previously lost out on Morgan Gibbs-White, who remained at Nottingham Forest, while another of their targets, Eberechi Eze, joined Arsenal from Crystal Palace.
