Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, within Operation Lafiya Nakowa, neutralized two terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
In a statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 3 Division, Aliyu Danja, the operation was conducted in conjunction with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke after receiving credible intelligence of a planned attack on Chanchanji community on September 15, 2025, by the Bojo terrorist group.
The terrorists were ambushed by the soldiers along the Demeva–Chanchanji road, killing one of the terrorists and forcing others to flee. In pursuit towards the Demeva–Gbudu axis, there was another firefight, leading to the death of a second terrorist.
Recovered items include:
1 G3 rifle
16 7.62mm special ammunition pieces
1 motorcycle
6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and courage and promised continuous aggressive operations to rid Taraba and its environs of criminality.
He further appealed to the people to be vigilant and provide credible information to security operatives to aid the sustenance of peace in the region.
