Trump Administration Criticizes Selena Gomez for Reaction to ICE Arrests

The Trump administration has taken aim at Selena Gomez for her emotional response to recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrests, accusing the actress and singer of misplaced empathy. On Friday evening, the White House released a social media video highlighting cases where women—Kayla Hamilton, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin—were reportedly killed by undocumented individuals. The video included emotional statements from the victims’ mothers, who directly addressed Gomez and others advocating against stricter border controls.

In captions accompanying the video, it was stated, “Kayla Hamilton, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin were murdered by illegal aliens. Their courageous mothers had something to say to @SelenaGomez and those who oppose securing our borders.”

During the video, mothers like Alexis Nungaray, Tammy Nobles, and Patty Morin expressed their grief and criticized Gomez for using her platform to “garner sympathy for lawlessness.” Patty Morin noted, “No one has stood up except for us mothers to cry out about our children,” while commending President Trump for bolstering immigration policies since his recent return to office.

Selena Gomez, a third-generation Mexican American, had previously shared a tearful video on social media in response to ICE deportations, characterizing the actions as an attack on her community. Despite later deleting the post and clarifying that she was expressing empathy, the video sparked significant controversy. Border czar Tom Homan also weighed in, suggesting Gomez direct her concerns toward Congress.
