Uzodimma Launches Free Eye Surgery Programme for Imo Pensioners and Families

IMO state

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has rolled out a free eye surgery programme for all pensioners and their families across the 27 state local government councils.

In a press release by his Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Prince Eze Ugochukwu, the programme was described as a life-changing initiative aimed at increasing access to quality healthcare and the well-being of senior citizens.

The project forms part of the governor’s comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme for providing low-cost and effective healthcare to Imo residents.

The Imo State Health Insurance Agency Executive Secretary, Dr. Uchenna Ewelike, will lead a team of physicians to carry out the procedures at the IMSU Medical Centre in Owerri and other centers.

He noted that the program is an exhibition of the mercy and compassion of Governor Uzodimma for the retirees and the vulnerable citizens, so they live comfortably in their old age.

“The project is a shining example of people-centered governance, ushering in new hope and improved health to our pensioners,” Ugochukwu said.
