Nigerian social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), recently posted a screenshot of his WhatsApp conversation with Super Eagles player Victor Boniface. The post, made on January 15, revealed an unexpected and generous interaction between the two.
In a video shared by VDM, he explained that Boniface had reached out to him on Instagram and provided his WhatsApp number for further communication. To VDM’s surprise, during their conversation, he discovered that Boniface, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, is from Benin, Edo State. Prior to this, VDM had assumed that Boniface was from Yoruba, Igbo, or Akwa Ibom heritage.
During their chat, Boniface agreed to send VDM a recharge card worth N5 million to assist with his social media activities. VDM provided his account details, and to his amazement, Boniface sent even more than the promised amount. However, VDM chose not to reveal the full sum.
In a generous move, VDM decided to share N2 million of Boniface’s gift with several lucky fans, supporting their vocational training.
VDM shared the video along with the caption:
