Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has announced that agreements signed during his visit to Lombardy, Italy, would boost youth employment and stimulate economic growth in the FCT. Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in Abuja on Monday, Wike highlighted successful discussions with the President of the Lombardy Regional Government, Attilio Fontana. Some of the key outcomes of the visit include the proposed opening of a vocational training center in Abuja and an agreement on the modernization of agriculture in the FCT.
“Our visit was very successful. We signed a memorandum of understanding with Lombardy to set up a vocational centre for skills acquisition, aside from efforts to promote mechanized agriculture that will provide employment and improve our economy,” Wike stated.
He appreciated the Lombardy government for their commitment towards the partnership, indicating that the projects are aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ to attract foreign investment into Nigeria. Wike also indicated that Lombardy would also support vocational training in the FCT, including providing training for Abuja youths in Italy.
