Yomi Fabiyi Leads Peaceful Protest for Mohbad’s Justice in Lagos

Actor Yomi Fabiyi has taken his fight for justice for late singer Mohbad to the streets, leading a peaceful protest in Lagos on February 27 to demand accountability. Mohbad’s sudden death on September 12, 2023, has remained a subject of controversy, prompting Fabiyi to keep the conversation alive.

The protest began at Alausa and concluded at the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja, with demonstrators calling for a transparent investigation into the singer’s passing. Fabiyi, holding a bold banner reading “Justice for Mohbad 2025”, urged young Nigerians to join him in the pursuit of truth.

The protest follows a controversial ruling by a Yaba magistrate court, which dropped charges against Naira Marley—Mohbad’s former record label boss—and others. However, the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has announced plans to take legal action against auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe and Mohbad’s friend, Ayobami Sadiq, citing negligence in the events leading to Mohbad’s death.

Ogedengbe, who allegedly administered the fatal injection, will be charged under Section 251 (e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015. Lagos Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa stated that her actions led to the chain of events that ultimately resulted in Mohbad’s untimely death.
