Zubimendi Double Fires Arsenal Past Forest to Go Top of Premier League

Premier League

Arsenal spoiled Ange Postecoglou’s Nottingham Forest managerial debut, running riot to a 3-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Summer signing Martin Zubimendi was the talking point, scoring his first two Gunners goals since arriving at the Emirates from Real Sociedad. Spanish midfielder Zubimendi had put Arsenal ahead before his second-half finish late on, with Viktor Gyokeres scoring in the early second half.

The win Arsenal’s third in four matches propelled them to the top of the Premier League table on goal difference above Liverpool, who face Burnley on Sunday.

Off a tight defeat to Liverpool before the international break, the Gunners replied in style, with Noni Madueke giving Mikel Arteta a performance of the game.

However, the victory was marred by a blow of injury as captain Martin Odegaard was forced to limp off during the first half with a suspected issue with his shoulder, joining an ever-growing list of absentees that already includes Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and William Saliba.
