One 18-year-old Nigerian, Mohammed Aminu Sani, is now one of the youngest Nigerians to achieve a United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot License.
Sani attained the impressive feat after finishing his intense flight training at Phoenix East Aviation (PEA) in Daytona Beach, Florida, in 10 months a very short time in aviation circles. Even more amazingly, he finished each phase of the program with not even a single checkride failure, a feat so uncommon it speaks volumes about his discipline and attention to detail.
“Being a pilot has been a dream since I was a child, and today I can proudly say I’m living my dream,” Sani exclaimed. “It has been a long journey with hard work, discipline, and passion. I hope my story will encourage others to chase their dreams relentlessly.”
Born and bred in Abuja, Sani went to Al-Hidaayah Academy, where he obtained a high school certificate and later graduated with distinction in Economics Foundation from The Regent College, Abuja. His decent educational background and early interest in aviation secured him admission into Phoenix East Aviation, one of the world’s leading FAA-approved flight schools that has trained pilots from more than 70 nations.
In training, Sani learned complicated flight procedures such as night flight, cross-country flight, and instrument flight in bad weather. Sani accumulated many hours of flight time in multi-engine planes such as the PA-34-200 Seneca by the time he graduated.
“To finish this programme with not one checkride failure is amazing,” a PEA instructor said. “It speaks of professionalism and maturity beyond his years.”.
Now a commercial pilot license holder, Sani indicates that his adventure has just started. “This is just the beginning. I would want to continue flying higher, learn from the best, and make Nigeria proud in global aviation,” he stated.
